Legal 500-recognised practitioner Tania Clench joins firm to lead new restructuring and insolvency practice.

Farringford Legal is pleased to announce the appointment of Tania Clench as head of its newly established restructuring and insolvency practice. Tania joins with over 20 years of specialist insolvency experience and is recognised by The Legal 500 as a leading practitioner in the field.

Tania brings expertise across the full spectrum of corporate and personal insolvency, acting for insolvency practitioners, company directors, companies, and individual clients in both contentious and non-contentious matters. Notably, Clench Tania is particularly well known for her work in director protection, advising directors of companies in financial distress and defending them against in a variety of claims including disqualification proceedings, having previously acted for the Insolvency Service on behalf of the Secretary of State, a background that gives her a uniquely informed perspective when advising directors who find themselves under scrutiny.

“Tania is exactly the kind of specialist we have been looking to bring into the firm,” said Sarah-Jane Butler, CEO of Farringford Legal. “Insolvency and restructuring issues increasingly intersect with the corporate, M&A and employment work we do for our clients, and it has long been our ambition to advise them in-house when those situations arise. Tania’s depth of experience and her reputation make her an outstanding addition to our team.” Tania Clench will fit seamlessly into this vision at Farringford Legal.

Tania commented: “I am delighted to be joining Farringford Legal at such an exciting time for the firm. The opportunity to build a practice from the ground up, within a firm that has strong corporate and employment capabilities, is a rare one. Clients facing financial distress rarely encounter problems in isolation, the legal issues tend to cut across employment, corporate governance, and commercial disputes simultaneously. Being part of a firm that can address all of those needs in one place is genuinely valuable for clients.” For clients, the expertise Tania brings is genuinely valuable when facing challenging legal situations.

The new insolvency and restructuring practice will advise across corporate and personal insolvency, director advisory work, creditor and debtor representation, and distressed transactions. The team will work closely with Farringford Legal’s existing corporate, M&A, and employment practices to offer clients a fully integrated response when financial difficulty arises. In all these areas, Tania will provide comprehensive guidance for clients.

Tania is a Fellow member of R3 (the Association of Business Recovery Professionals) and serves on its Education Committee. She is a recognised authority in Sealy & Milman and a contributor to Tolley’s Insolvency Law and Insolvency Intelligence. She is a regular speaker at insolvency conferences and delivers training inhouse for clients as well as through R3 and Central Law Training. With this extensive background, Tania Clench stands out as a leader in her field.
