About us

Bernie is a qualified solicitor in Hong Kong with over 27 years of experience in intellectual property (IP) and commercial law and practice; she is currently a Consultant of the first-tier IP law firm ELLALAN in Hong Kong. 

She ran her own boutique IP law firm for 8 years before relocating to London. Prior to that she had eight years of solid experience as senior legal counsel in Asia Pacific with Kering (one of the world’s largest luxury groups) handling all legal, compliance, data protection and IP matters in 15 jurisdictions, and before that Bernie had 11 years in private practice in international law firms including Linklaters Hong Kong. 

She understands and delivers what clients, senior management, in-house counsel, external counsel and government bodies need to drive business growth and success. 

She is fluent in written and spoken English, Mandarin and Cantonese. 

Jon is an overseas-qualified lawyer based in Hong Kong. He has 24 years of professional experience in international finance and corporate law, he has worked at major international law firms including Linklaters In London and a number of global investment banks.

Jon provides holistic and innovative practical solutions from a legal and compliance perspective and has assisted a wide range of clients, including SMEs, fintechs, startups, entrepreneurs, family offices and corporate businesses. He is a diligent process-oriented lawyer with experience across the whole spectrum of the SME playbook, including investments, corporate governance, joint ventures/ collaborations, private equity, venture capital and M&A. 

Jon heads up a family office in Hong Kong investing in private equity and venture investments.

Rob is a Chartered UK and European patent attorney, with a technical background predominantly in mechanical engineering. He has worked at large private practice patent and trade mark firms, and has also worked in-house within the trade mark team of a global snacks company, before starting up a boutique intellectual property firm in 2022. 

Rob is experienced in helping individuals, start-ups and SMEs navigate the complex world of intellectual property, advising on commercially beneficial actions to take to build and strengthen their IP portfolios. 

Rob aims to provide clear and concise advice by cutting out the legal jargon when explaining the options available to clients along with the real-world commercial effects of any actions taken. 

Kaoruko holds an undergraduate degree in music and subsequently completed the law conversion course at BPP Law School. During her time at law school, Kaoruko volunteered for a social enterprise based in Kingston-upon-Thames and has supported clients on several pro bono projects.  

Prior to joining Farringford permanently as a trainee in January 2023, Kaoruko undertook a placement with us for over six  months. She has worked with a number of our clients during her placement on employment matters, such as preparing contracts and conducting research on employers’ rights and obligations. 

Belinda is a generalist legal consultant to Farringford Legal, having previously worked at Ashurts Australia (formerly Blakes), Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer Tokyo, Linklaters London and in-house at HSBC Bank plc.  

Belinda has worked with a range of clients and multinational institutions practicing in diverse practice areas including structured finance, securitisation, real estate finance, banking, employment, general corporate and commercial law. For the past ten years while raising her family, 

Belinda established her own business and has gained invaluable practical experiences in setting up and running a small enterprise. She now combines those skills with her legal skillset to provide practical corporate advice to small businesses.   

Alex is an experienced solicitor with over 18 years’ experience in finance law. She now specialises in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with their financial legal needs.

Previously, Alex worked at Linklaters LLP, advising a diverse range of clients including companies, banks, and private debt funds on various debt financing transactions. Her experience covers debt financing including corporate financings, acquisition and leveraged financings, restructurings, and other secured financings. She also completed secondments with the Leveraged and Acquisition Finance Team at HSBC Bank plc and the Private Debt Team at Barings.

Alex brings a wealth of experience acting for both borrowers and lenders, making her a well-rounded transactional lawyer. She is known for her commercial and proactive approach, ensuring that her legal advice is always tailored, succinct, and business-oriented.

Alex takes pride in understanding the unique needs of each client, delivering legal solutions that align with their business goals.

Outside of her professional life, Alex is a trustee of a charity, where she oversees governance and secretarial matters.

Andrew advises businesses on their corporate law and transactional needs at any stage in their growth cycle. After working at Linklaters in a corporate team, he diversified into international capital markets and then into corporate and investment banking with in-house counsel roles at DLJ, Credit Suisse, Nomura and Societe Generale.

His experience is very broad, ranging from corporate, M&A, debt and equity capital markets, emerging markets, private equity, structured products, derivatives and wholesale markets, funds and hedge funds. 

He also has extensive experience in leading organisational change and transformation of in-house legal teams, combining technology and legal operations, on the back of which he co-founded a consultancy specialising in these areas. 

Milan is a corporate lawyer, acting as a legal consultant to Farringford Legal, having previously worked for Linklaters, Sidleys and Pinsent Masons, with clients ranging from large global institutional clients through to start-ups, venture capital companies and high net worth individuals. 

He has a breadth of experience from corporate M&A through to joint ventures, restructurings, equity financings, venture capital and general corporate advisory work. 

He has a focused business and commercial slant, having made the leap into the business world with involvement in outsourcing, e-commerce and Blockchain businesses and running a consultancy practice servicing start-ups and small to medium companies.
